Is your Mobile causing you Stress?
Many of us think of instant communication such as the mobile phone as one of the greatest inventions of modern technology. But sadly the mobile phone brings its own set of health issues, one that is particularly on the increase is STRESS caused by " constant availability"..
In a society of instant gratification where were one has instant access to most things at the simple push of a button. It is so easy to become conditioned in to society’s instant demands, often believing that we SHOULD or HAVE TO respond to ever call IMMEDIATELY, no matter where we are or what we’re doing.
I see many clients overwhelmed by the socially created pressure of being “constantly available” .The overwhelming illusion they MUST be there for everyone at all times, particularly their family but more worryingly for their co-workers or employer. Most of them never switch their phone off, believing they need to be instantly contactable by their work when this is not often the case. This type of unnecessary stress and anxiety can affects both consciously and unconsciously, but can lead to extreme mental health issues or physical dis-ease.
Part of my work involves helping the client re-asses their perception of what they think they have or must do. Most things in life DONT NEED your instant response, they certainly may want, or even may think their entitled to. But how many of those calls you receive each day are really urgent, are real emergencies or are of highest priority. It is important that every so often we question many of our every day habits, especially those that are no longer bringing us happiness or wellbeing.
Managing Stress involves using different tools and tactics to reduce your stressors, to help manage areas of your life more appropriately, which in turn improves your health and wellbeing. Modern technology should be used as an aid not as a source of stress. Like any form of technology a Mobile Phone should simply be a tool , not a way of life.
Change your mobile habits Now !
- Every call, stop , take a breath and assess if it is a good time to answer ?
- Switch off at bedtime and holiday breaks.
- Take time out, for a walk or the gym, again leave the phone…
Control how you use your MOBILE PHONE don’t let it control you !
Reduce Stress in 2012 by Letting Go ...
Stress often = struggle to gain something ( illusionary wealth, power..)
Happiness= letting go ( pain, material pressure..)
Gain the courage and wisdom to let go of what is not working , what you no longer need.
And make room in your heart and life for the important thingsOne of the common themes I see when one is suffering from stress. Is the unconscious battle or struggle many of us have with the tinged conditioning of a materialistic society. How the priority of material wealth, illusionary success, physical or material perfection comes at the cost of one’s wellbeing, family, connectedness.
Stress is commonly a feeling of under pressure, unable to cope and often accompanies situations we feel are out of our control. Often as one holds tighter and tighter to aspects of their life, the reigns break...something gives. So letting go can be the wisest solution.Great freedom in spirit and body can come from letting go of things we no longer require, a spring clean in our daily habits, daily spending, attitudes, even employment and relationships can seriously improve your health and happiness.
Reduce your stress levels in 2012 by letting go of emotional, mental and physical struggles and make room for peace and happiness in your heart and being.
