Stress at Work.

In 2005, personnel today reckoned that stress in the workplace cost the UK

£100 BN a year. Employees more than ever struggle, to alleviate stress in

the workplace, with further demands in the present economy. Small changes

can make huge differences, even in the smallest companies. Even if you

can't offer flexi-time, counselling or a chill out room. You can offer support,

advice and information on other reso and agencies.

Employees still find it difficult to disclose bullying, harrasment or other personal

issues that will have a knock on effect on their work. Supportive management

can make a huge difference in encouraging effecivecommunicationand

improving positive staff morale.

Simple Startegies for Businesses include :

Breaks: emphasis the importance of employees taking breaks, tea and lunch

breaks are vital to help the body restore energy levels and clarity. Breaks

helps the body to calm down.

Healthy Environment: all places of work should be as environmentally healthy

as possible, no matter the industry, employees should be protected from noise

pollution, toxins and other environmental issues which can affect staff.

Temperature, Air Conditioning and environmental should be comfortable as

possible. Work stations and machinery should be ergonimic for posture.

Water: Dehydration add's further distress to the body. Providing staff with

a water at a small cost, can help keep staff well, motivated and focused.

Workshops & Training: provide stress management awareness for staff

and managers, encourage team building and good communication skills.

Stress is our bodies survival "fight or flight" response. We all suffer "stress"

at sometime in our life. Help staff become empowered by giving them the tools

and awareness to manage their stress, and work in a happy environment.
